The banner I used for the home page on my website. I try to advertise anywhere I can, but avoid being pushy.

I have maintained a Wordpress blog since 2009. Yesterday, after much deliberation and a two week warning to my followers (200 hits per day) I deleted that blog after making sure everything was shifted over to my new blog on my new website.

I’m an independent author who has published 6 science fiction novels who sees monthly sales but doesn’t make a lot of money on those book sales. Yeah, I haven’t quit my day-job.

However, after searching the web for ideas about how to boost my sales I read over and over again about how many professionals have websites with their name as the URL. With a little more research, I narrowed my host down to three choices:

  1. Wix
  2. Weebly
  3. Squarespace

In the end, I chose Squarespace because they had the nicest and most user-friendly interface. Several famous people use Squarespace, namely Keanu Reeves, and since I wasn’t too keen on spending weeks of my precious time learning to code HTML, it was the right choice for me. Wix and Weebly, even though they are more affordable (Weebly is free), they didn’t offer the bells and whistles that Squarespace offered at a yearly fee of $144 (including the $20/yr for the domain name).
